Tips to Pass a Salesforce Certification Exam

Prepare for Success

· Tips and Tricks

With Salesforce Certification Days upon us, the drive to pass certifications is in full swing. Here are a few tips we would like to share when taking certification exams:

1. Know the Outline of Your Exam

Salesforce exams are composed of different topics with each topic weighted differently than others. If a certain topic weighs 5% while another weighs 17%, it makes sense to spend more time on the more heavily weighted topics, as this topic will appear more frequently throughout the exam.

2. Salesforce Certification Days Webinars

During Salesforce Certification Days, Salesforce offers free half day webinars to help prepare for different Salesforce exams. It is important to remember these webinars are not recorded and slides are not shared. Also, spots fill up quickly so it’s important to register as soon as possible. These webinars are often very fast paced and should not be used as the only resource to help prepare for the exam. Click HERE to register.

3. Complete Trailheads Specific to Your Certification

Salesforce offers trailheads for each certification exam. In these trailheads, topics are covered for each certification. In addition to learning the concepts, you will also be able to have hands-on experience completing real-life tasks with real-time feedback.

4. Manage Your Time

Salesforce exams are timed, however, do not let that deter you. Some questions will be more challenging than others and it’s important to mark them so you can return to them when finished. It is best to not spend too much time on any one question and instead quickly complete as many less-challenging questions as possible at the beginning of your exam.

5. Process of Elimination

Like other exams, use a process of elimination to help you choose the best answer. Out of the four choices, two may seem immediately incorrect while the other two seem plausible. Salesforce is known for tricky wording so take your time and read the questions carefully.

Most importantly, if you do not pass the first (or even second or third) time, fail forward and try again! With each attempt, you’ll learn something new. After completing the exam, be sure to check out the section level feedback to see how you performed in each topic and which areas more time should be dedicated to reviewing.
